the OBJECTIVE JERK
I have objective views and I am a jerk. I am catholic and I am conservative, but this is not a faith based or political podcast. I am a "normal" person that likes to discuss many topics and although I view things through a catholic/conservative lens, my time in the Army has also left me with an asshole complex. I am not an expert nor am I perfect, but I am Objective and I am a Jerk, so join the Objective Jerk as my Catholic conscience battles with my veteran outlook.

FACTS OVER FEELINGS: What The Carmelo Anthony Verdict Says About Accountability
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
I talk through the Karmelo Anthony guilty verdict and how & why the basic facts of the track meet stabbing matter more than viral narratives. I also unpack how rage bait, jury optics, and emotional thinking can distort public judgement, then we question what prison actually fixes after a conviction.
• Video and audio quality struggles and why listener feedback matters
• Timeline of the track meet confrontation and why walking away is the real line
• Why we reject race-first interpretations when the evidence points one way
• How jury selection works and why “no Black jurors” isn’t the full story
• Rage bait incentives on social media and how clicks reward bad takes
• Cameras, body cams, and why modern evidence changes accountability
• Prison as punishment versus rehabilitation, especially for minors
• The lingering question of motive and what it means for public safety
Let me know what you think. What’s your opinion? Do you think he’s guilty? Innocent? Do you care? Was my video okay? Let me know.

Video Setup And Quality Checks
SPEAKER_02What's up? This is the Objective Jerk, and I am said jerk. Jerk. What's going on? How's everybody doing?
SPEAKER_01I'm still trying to figure out the video thing. I'm s I don't know. I'm still doing my podcast. I'm not gonna make 10-minute videos like a lot of people do. But I'm working hard, just so you know. The last podcast that I did, the video was so laggy and choppy that I couldn't use it. So I've been messing with that, trying to get it to work. So I think I got it. I think it's good. It's probably gonna do it occasionally, but if it's really bad, like the video's really bad or the audio, let me know. I mean, I am you know listening as much as I can or watching, trying to make sure do quality control. But if you know, if you watch and it's really kind of shitty, let me know, please. So Carmelo Anthony found guilty, which rightfully so, right?
SPEAKER_02Man,
The Guilty Verdict And Hot Takes
SPEAKER_02but you have so much just retarded takes on the situation.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, I didn't do my little screen thing, I already had this one up, huh? But whatever, it's okay. Anyway, so this this lady right here. So a lot of things you see on social media where people are like, oh my god, this is bullshit. A lot of it is just trolling, rage baiting, trying to get people to make comments so they get more views and make more money. You know, a lot of it is that. But there are and on Facebook, same thing. But there are people who do see those things or hear about them, and then that that's the view they get. Case in point, this lady right here that I'm gonna show the video. Holy crap, it's a long one.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, it's not.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I'm gonna play this. I I kind of listened to what she had to say, but it was just like just a horrible, horrible take. So look here, let's listen.
SPEAKER_00What do you want us to do? What what do you want us to do at this point? What? I I'm I'm I'm lost for it. I don't know what to do. I got five boys. I don't know what I ain't got nothing to tell them no more. You can't walk away no more.
SPEAKER_02Rest in peace, Trayvon Martin. Let me ask you this right now.
SPEAKER_00What do you want us to do?
SPEAKER_01That's not the video that I thought that was. I thought there was one that was a little more in depth on what she said. But there's a lot of BS going on about this. They're talking about how that if he would walk the way. So this is what happened. For those that don't know, which I'm sure you do. So Carmelo Anthony went to the track
What Happened At The Track Meet
SPEAKER_01meet, right? Went to a tent that was not his team or his school, brought a knife, which he's not supposed to do, and then when he was asked to leave, he would not leave. He was asked like up to 15 times, and he didn't leave.
SPEAKER_02And then he started getting mouthy, and then when what's his face, the victim.
SPEAKER_01I can never, I always forget his name. I feel bad. I want to see if I can Metcalf. Austin Metcalf. So he was, you know, he was the alpha male or whatever, feels like he needs to take charge. So he's like, hey, you need to get out of here. And Carmel Anthony, and this was this was reported by multiple people, a dozen people all said the same thing. He's like, I'm not gonna fight you at a track meet. So then when he grabbed his shoulder or nudged him, maybe even pushed him, but even if he like shoved him hard, that doesn't mean you come back and stab somebody in the heart. And they were the only one, no, it wasn't like it was a group bunch of group of people surrounding him, like they were trying to say, but that he Kamarlo Anthony was 100% in the wrong and deserves to go to jail. But you have people like that lady who were like, Oh, what are we supposed to do? We can't walk away, we can't, whatever this and that. It's like, what are you talking about? And it's not, you know, the mindset. When I say the mindset, but it's not like a black thing, it's not like all black people think this way. What it's the liberal. If you had to classify this way of thinking, which is emotional thinking, it's the liberal mindset. If you had to classify it, you know what I mean? No critical thinking, just emotion. What? Huh? He stabbed well, he must have had a reason to stab that white boy and blah blah blah. You know, it's like, I mean, you know, and a lot of people see, read the transcripts, know all the facts. It's the same thing with like Kyle Rittenhouse. They're trying to like do the same thing. Oh my gosh, he attacked this and that, he brought, he did this. No, he didn't. Watch the tapes. They have like the whole confrontation on video, drones and helicopters, police, you know, or news helicopters. You see the whole thing. But they it's like, no, they they they don't think with off based off of facts, they think based off emotions. And then they I don't know, like, how do you it's unfortunate, but it's like it doesn't matter. If they're both white, both black, both Asian, Carmelo Anthony was in the wrong.
Jury Selection And Race Narratives
SPEAKER_01And then they're trying to say, like, oh, it was unfair because the jury, there was no black people on the jury. Well, because they went through picking the people, you know how they pick juries? They go through and pick all these people, and both sides have to agree, yes, that juror seems fair. And you know why there was no black folks? Because they all would say, oh no, he's black, so he's innocent. And you see that all the time. Oh, I know. I gotta, I gotta, you know, for my own, I gotta, or whatever. Like, and and I talked about I think I talked about something on the podcast, because, you know, if somebody's black, they're always gonna get the benefit of the doubt no matter what. You know what I mean? And it's like with OJ. You know, same shit. So that right there is why there was no black people, but the jury wasn't all white. There was Asian, there was Hispanic, there was other races in it. Just, yeah, there was no black people. But it's like when they vote or judge people based on their color of their skin, that doesn't make them a good juror. You can't have, you know, it's that's like that's like having, you know, a white guy and everybody's a part of the Black Panther party. Or if it's a black dude and they're all KK wearing hoods, you know. You can't you can't have people that now if there was, you know, a common sense individual who was black and shared that he had critical thinking and didn't, you know, and was fit whatever, then they would have both been like, you know, I'm sure the defense was like, oh yeah, let's I'm good with him, I'm good with them or her, or whatever if they're black. And then the the prosecutors were like, no, because they're not gonna even listen to what I have to say. They just like, oh, he's black, he's innocent. Or vice versa. Oh, he's black, he's guilty. You know, they can't have that either. It's hard to get a pool of your peers when they're all don't have they don't care what what the facts are.
SPEAKER_02They just care about the color of your skin. The whole thing is just it's just ridiculous. I thought I let me see.
SPEAKER_01Let me look at my I don't have I'm not as very good. I don't get on I don't get on. Oh wait, no, I gotta go to my profile, huh? See, I don't get I don't get on X too often. Okay, here we go. See, I'm trying to learn. I don't ever like anything. So it's like I'm trying to if I want to keep track of something, I have to like. So that's the one I just watched, right?
SPEAKER_02I thought she said more though. Yeah, that's the same one. Okay.
Social Media Rage Bait And Indoctrination
SPEAKER_02No, this is about the voting thing. I'm not gonna talk about that. But I do where's it at? Oh, I already so like this is the kind of let me sh let me show you.
SPEAKER_01Hold on. Let me Okay, there we go. So you don't see all my my porn on my computer. No, I'm joking. But let's see. No, not down. Gosh. See, I'm I know how to get around a computer, I'm just not very quick with it.
SPEAKER_02That's for sure. What's funny though is I'm better and quicker than my kids are. How does that make sense? It doesn't. Because they just know touch screen, iPads and phones and and all that crap. That's what they know.
SPEAKER_01They don't know like how the workings of like PCs and stuff. Like they don't even know how to plug stuff in, connect stuff. They know how to connect Wi-Fi, that's about it. And Bluetooth now, I guess, but where's this thing at?
SPEAKER_02Is it over here? See, I don't see this picture I'm trying to bring up. Where's it at? Oh, there it is, okay. So this feels more legit than being what do you call it? Rage Bader. But this was on Do you see now my thing doesn't want to zoom in? Stupid smart shit. Okay, let me let me minimize. No, I don't want to minimize well, let's see. Why can't I zoom in? Dude, what the hell? What the crap, dude. I think I'll just make it bigger. See, I don't like I gotta get rid of my files so people it's like because I'm doing this and it's kinda stupid.
SPEAKER_01Everybody can look at my files. Anyway. I don't know if you can see that. But so this was a post, I think it was on Facebook. So no black people on the jury, but I just explained why. A judge that let that happen, black teenager, dead white boy, weak defense team. Well, they hired their lawyer. So I mean that's on them. A courtroom asking America's oldest question Does a black youth have the right to fear a white body before that white body destroys him? Hello, Jim Crow. See these people, they're so indoctrinated, they they think it's like the 1950s. Like, I could understand this, you know, 50, 70 years ago, but that's not how it is now. Are there people who are racist? Well, here's a prime example right here. Most of the racists are like black folks now. But like I said on another episode, racism was all but gone. And then Obama came into office, and then all of a sudden it just slowly started coming back again.
SPEAKER_02It is ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01But anyway, and if he's convicted, the racists will celebrate. They will lie and say this is accountability and justice. Oh, I didn't do the C-mour, I didn't notice that. But the racists are gonna celebrate because nothing. So it is accountability. You can't just do whatever you want. You don't you don't stab somebody because it even if he said, hey, N-word, whatever, and clocked him, that doesn't justify you stabbing him. That justifies you fighting back. Now, the only way him stabbing him would have been justifiable is if he was straight up surrounded by a bunch of guys who were making threats and he felt like his life was in danger, and then he came at him and he stabbed him. That's it. But that did not happen at all. Not even close. So again, people like that, they just they only see race. Look at the facts. See, quit looking at the color and all that crap. Male, women, doesn't matter. Here is a human entity, here's another human, this is what happened. Who's the wrong who's in the wrong? This person, okay. Now, does justice system always work? No. But it's getting better just because there's so much with the technology and phones and all the cameras everywhere, there's so much evidence to prove somebody's innocence or guilt. You know, the the body cams of that all the cops wear. I was working for the army as a police officer when those were kind of coming out. I mean, I think a lot of PDs
Evidence, Cameras, And Police Body Cams
SPEAKER_01already had some, a lot of them were starting to wear them, but it was still kind of new. So this is like early 2000s. And I remember the first person to have it was like the supervisor of the shift. He would have the body cam. So then, you know, and I remember thinking, like, man, it's like now they're just gonna like spy on whatever. Like to me, it felt kind of like micromanaging, but it's turning out to be a godsend for police officers because it has gotten officers off the hook so many times. Not every time, but a lot of times. But it's also showing the shitty cops too, and they don't, you know, there's lots of people who are police officers that don't have the right mindset and should not be a police officer, you know? But it's not Jim Crow era, it's not, oh, you need to be afraid of all the white people. No, if anything, it's like who's getting attacked? You got white people being attacked by black folks left and right in the major cities because they're not doing anything about it. You see videos all day long in high schools and stuff all across America. But no, he should be scared of white people. Like, what? It's not like there was a history. Like, I kind of thought when this all went down, I was thinking, like, there must be some kind of history between the two. Maybe he was being picked on by this dude a lot. Still wouldn't have justified what happened, but you know, but no, this guy just he wanted to. I'm like, I'm wondering if it was like an initiation for something. Hey man, you need to stab somebody. Because they haven't heard nothing. He didn't get on the stand.
SPEAKER_02We don't know like what from all the multiple testimonies there's it there's absolutely no reason for this guy to do what he did.
SPEAKER_01Like you know, there's gonna be riots, people are gonna start fires and do all this kind of crap. Dude, it's like these individuals are see, they they knew this. I think the people they knew that people were coming together. After 9-11, the country came together. Maybe not so much for Muslim people. I get they were getting some shit, but you know, that only lasts for so long and it sucks. I understand. But, you know, Muslims that get screwed over by Americans for whatever reason, they turn around and become terror, you know, so it's like it's it goes both ways, you know. I'm not saying it's all right or whatever, but it's just it's life, you know? That's life. It's not always great, it's not always right, but it's it is what it is. That saying actually holds a lot of water.
SPEAKER_02But but then it seemed like I don't know, man.
SPEAKER_01Seriously, when Obama it's like they're like, hey, we this things aren't working out. Like, we're too, we need to start creating divisions. Like they wanted to create division. Hey, let's let's you know start doing all this stuff for black people to make white people like what the hell? And then it's just like slowly, progressively progressed into progressivism, you know, the three P's.
SPEAKER_02It's like
Division Politics And Manufactured Outrage
SPEAKER_02the I don't know, it's just insane, you know? And you can't you can't you can't make decisions like this.
SPEAKER_01The only person that is justifiable to make a rash emotional outburst decision or whatever is the parents and the brother of Austin Metcalf. At the, you know, they had their their son was killed at that moment. You think, you know, they wanted to say, oh, you N-words, you suck, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Is it right? No, but it would be justifiable in that moment, right? But then you have all these people, they don't know these people. These people came from Portland or wherever. They're showing up there just because he's black and oh oh my god, and they're getting all look at how angry. It's like they they believe all the hype that, like, you know, yes, okay, slavery was here in the states. We didn't create it, we ended it. But that's the past, you know. But they sit there and keep bringing it up, like, oh, and like, oh, we deserve. It's like you don't deserve shit. You deserve for whatever you do as a person in your life. It's just, it's so stupid. The reparations, the the but see, most of it is it's all bullshit, though. It is manufactured, people trying to, you know, and that's another reason though, too. I mean, I guess it's not all it's not all a conspiracy, which I think people are kind of pushing it. I mean, you have the the SPL, SL, whatever the hell it was that was supposedly fighting racism, but when they're actually funding it, SPLC or something like that. But social media, you know, because so much of social media is straight up crap, but it's if they get clicks, people they need to stop paying people. If they'd stop paying people on social media, they're like, oh, you can make money. They need to figure out a different way because then people less people would be posting stupid shit. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Like, it just it blows my mind.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, we'll see. Cities are gonna burn and this and that, and just the racists are gonna become even more racist. And on both sides. You know what I mean? So you have people who are a little prejudiced, maybe a little racist, but they don't really, but this is making it worse. And then you have people who, you know, like what do you think Austin Metcalfe's son probably now? Every time he sees, you know, black dude with some short dreads or something, he's gonna, you know, and he's not gonna trust, you know, it's like, and I get why people who get screwed over by like a white cop, but dude, it's so far and few between. It's I don't know. Oh, you know, my cousin's friend's uncle, he got something, something, uh or one ice cube. It's like, okay, yeah. But it's just it's so frustrating. And then and it's all just emotional. Like they they just get so angry over because a black kid killed a white kid and is found guilty. I mean, that's the the nuts and bolts of it. There was no reason for him to stab him at all. So that's what happened. Black kid killed white kid, black kid's going to jail. Now, to be fair, him going to jail is just gonna make it worse. He's gonna be his life's over, basically, because prison doesn't do shit for people. I mean, some people learn and change their ways and come out, but a lot of people get changed and affected by prison. And it's not by their choice, but like just to to live, you know, to defend themselves, to live through they gotta do shit, they get more in trouble and then they experience things or they have you know what I mean? So it's kind of, you know, I
Prison, Rehabilitation, And The “Why”
SPEAKER_01understand the fact that prison is not a rehabilitation center as much as they, you know, it's it's not. If anything, people become worse, you know? Not everybody. I mean, look at nerd rotic, right? But I kind of think like he should, even because he was a minor when he did it, and see, look at this is the this is the liberalism in me, right? He should go to like I mean, he should be confined, he should have a cell, but it should be more of like he sees therapists and can go to college still, take classes, get a therapist and do whatever and try and you know what I mean, and then still though, he's gotta be there for whatever his term is. But I don't know. And then based on that, you know, I know it's tough, that costs more money and more it's not as easy as I just said it, but and I do that I know they have some programs like that and stuff like that, but I mean, because like what why, why, why, why, why did he stab this kid? Like I said, if he was constantly being bullied and picked on by this kid by Austin, then I would somewhat understand, okay, why he did it. Still wrong, but okay. As of right now, it's just like he just wanted to stab somebody. What the fuck is that about? So it's either he just needs to be locked up because he's a danger to society, or he was pressured to do it as like an initiation to a group, gang, or whatever. I don't know. Like, that's the only two reasons I can think of. I don't know. I don't get it. I don't get it. But anyway, that's all. Let me know what you think. What's your opinion? Do you think he's guilty? Innocent? Do you care? Was my video okay? Let me know. All right, appreciate your time. Thank you for hanging out and God bless. All right, bye.
